Who are we?

We are the Hudson Square Connection (HSC). We’re a business improvement district (BID) that is completing the neighborhood’s transformation into a major creative hub home to more than 50,000 people working in advertising, design, media, communications, and technology, and other creative businesses. learn more about who we are

What do we do?

Our focus is on making Hudson Square a place for people. To do that, we provide pedestrian safety programs, including our Pedestrian Traffic Managers (PTMs) along Varick Street during the PM rush; green infrastructure like the award-winning Hudson Square Standard, a new way of planting 250 trees that provides big environmental and health impacts; business promotion through our website, electronic communications, and social media; and open space management across the neighborhood.

What is the BID trying to do?

The BID’s current boundaries are in dark grey on the map on the right, the proposed HSC_bid_expansion_mapexpansion area is in blue, and the survey area is in orange. As you can see, the dark grey area left out part of our neighborhood. We are looking to expand the boundaries to include areas of the Hudson Square neighborhood that were not included in the original district boundaries. Expanding the BID boundaries will knit together the entire neighborhood, include a broader area for services, and allow us to promote a clear neighborhood identity. learn more

How does the process work?

The BID expansion process is community driven and participatory. Preparation for the expansion plan is estimated to take 9-12 months and include community input, to be followed by another 9-12 month formal approval process from the City. learn more about the expansion process

So much great progress being made by the Hudson Square BID. Love the new trees and their design, and we can’t wait for the new park that is scheduled to break ground fall of 2016 to be completed by 2018! So exciting!” – Green Below 14
