The open space on Spring Street and Sixth Avenue, formerly known as Soho Square, has remained untouched since it was built in the 1970s. The Connection has entered into a partnership with the City to transform the park into an inviting, sustainable space. Working with the community, we are creating a space with more trees, seating and lighting for people to enjoy all year round. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2016 with a completion date scheduled for 2018.

Features of the new park when completed:

  • 17% more trees
  • 87% more stormwater capture
  • 35% more permeable surfaces
  • 4 solar-powered trash compactors
  • Underlit benches and decorative lighting to keep the park bright and inviting at night
  • 60% increase in seating

Hudson Square will soon have a new park—a welcome respite from the din of the city.
